qaryz is a small app for keeping track of money owed within friend groups. It’s run by Dastan Ozgeldi (“we” below). This page explains what qaryz stores, who can see it, and how to get it deleted.
The short version
- We keep only what the app needs to work.
- The people in your groups see your name, photo and the qaryz in those groups. Nobody else does.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking. Your data is never sold.
- Email privacy@qaryz.com to get a copy of your data or have it deleted.
What qaryz stores
- From your Google account: your name, email address, profile photo and Google account ID. qaryz only asks Google for these, so it can’t see anything else in your Google account, such as your contacts, mail or files. Google also hands over sign-in tokens, which qaryz stores encrypted and doesn’t use.
- What you do in qaryz: the groups you create or join, each qaryz you add or are added to (amount, note, whether it was approved or declined), each payment made towards paying it back, each time you settle up with someone, and when each of those happened.
- Sign-in sessions: the IP address and browser each session started from, to keep your account secure. A session ends after 30 days without use, or when you sign out.
- On your device: a cookie that keeps you signed in, plus your theme and the group you last opened, saved in your browser. There are no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
Who can see it
- People in your groups see your name and photo, and every qaryz in the group with its amount, note, status, payments and dates. A declined request is visible only to the two people involved. Other members don’t see your email address.
- Anyone with a group’s invite link, even without signing in, sees the group’s name, how many people are in it, and the names and photos of up to six members. Apps that preview links, like Telegram, can show the group name and member count. Resetting the invite link from the group menu stops an old link from working.
- The services that run qaryz process data on our behalf, listed below. Their logs can include IP addresses and are kept for a limited time.

How qaryz uses your Google information
qaryz uses the name, email address and profile photo it receives from Google only to sign you in and to show you to the people in your groups. It doesn’t sell this information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone other than the services above.
qaryz’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How long it’s kept, and deleting it
Your data is kept for as long as you have an account.
Leaving a group removes you from its members. The qaryz you were part of stay in the group’s history for the others, without your name or photo. When the last person leaves a group, the group and its history are deleted.
To get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account, email privacy@qaryz.com from the Google address you sign in with. We’ll do it within 30 days. Deleting your account removes your profile, sessions and group memberships; qaryz you were part of stay in your groups’ history without your name or photo.
Children
qaryz isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
